“We are witnessing a new regulatory configuration with a range of next generation policies and the considerable promise of a new generation of tools.”
- Professor Neil Gunningham, Australian National University
The Academy (brochure) is MSWG’s innovation support system available to anyone and any organization that wants to try new tools and use old tools in new ways to protect and restore the environment. It is a “virtual” academy without a campus or faculty. It can come to the client. It taps the best talent in the U.S. and world to serve the client’s needs or sponsor’s intent.
Policy Academy Mission Statement
Through education, dialogue, and research, the Policy Academy on Environmental Management Tools will develop and provide information on credible and effective environmental management systems and other public policy tools that can be used in the pursuit of improved environmental performance and sustainability.
The Academy can help you.
The Academy’s mission and guiding principles open the door to services:
Policy education: Increasing understanding of policies that underpin approaches to superior environmental performance and sustainability.
Capacity building: Increasing skills used in selecting and using tools to protect and restore the environment.
Open dialogue: Creating the space and community that allow the best to emerge from the combined efforts of parties that have common interests.
Citizen involvement: Equipping citizens to engage constructively and work together.
Sponsored and shared research: Supporting scholars who develop new theory and help those in the trenches test theory for continuous improvement and breakthrough concepts.
Advance best practices: Sharing new tools and practices that measure up to the challenge of superior environmental performance, environmental restoration and sustainablity.
